Traditional Chinese Food at Dough Zone
The next restaurant I went to was Dough Zone! Dough Zone is a traditional Chinese food restaurant that has many interesting things about it. Their menu, for starters, is not like any old menu. You don’t just tell the waiter what you want when he comes by. Instead, you put little tally marks to show how much you want of each item next to the items name on a small piece of paper*. Another interesting part about Dough Zone is that some of the dumplings come in bamboo steamer baskets instead of plates! One of my personal favorite foods there is the Dan Dan Noodles! Dan Dan Noodles are a kind of noodles that have a very interesting flavor. It’s almost as if they make your lips numb. They have that amazing superpower because they contain Sichuan Peppercorn. They taste so good and they are my favorite dish at Dough Zone!
Another amazing dish at Dough Zone is the Pork Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumplings. Soup Dumplings are just like regular dumplings, but instead of meat and vegetables, they are full of soup! To eat them you follow these simple steps: First you put a soup dumpling on your spoon, then you bite a small hole in it to let the soup drain out into your spoon, after that you sip the soup from the spoon, and finally you eat the dumpling and the filling.
A good vegetable to eat there is the Sweet and Sour Cucumber. The Sweet and Sour Cucumber is a cucumber cut into a spiral shape and seasoned with a spice. By now you might be thinking “Oh man! With all this food, I’m going to need a drink. Maybe I will just stop at Chick-Fil-A to get a milkshake!” Well, stop right there! The point of this blog is to try to get you to try new and exotic foods! So, instead of a milkshake, you can have some tea! Dough Zone offers a wide variety of hot tea, but my favorite is Oolong tea. (pronounced: exactly how it looks, Ooo-long)
Some other interesting foods are the Beef Pancake Roll, Pan Fried Wontons, Vegetable Steamed Dumplings, and Pork and Shrimp Boiled Dumplings. So, come on down and “Try it With Wyatt!”
